I believe if it is running on L3 LWAPP (and the WLC supports), then you can use WAN for WLAN. However, it may be an impact to the WAN bandwidth to have remote LWAPP AP. I suggest to install a WLC module at the router to act as a local WLC. Or use anonymous (standalone) mode for the remote site if there are only a few APs there.
