Hi folks,
Does Cisco have any wireless packet capture software similar to Wildpacket or OmniPeek?
Thanks,
Tony

I don't believe that Cisco has any software per se, but you might also consider products such as AirMagnet for diagnostics and Network Instruments as a sniffer-type of product.

We don't have a wireless sniffer product. I personally use Airopeek for packet capture. You can get a free version of OmniPeek Personal from WildPackets. I like Airopeek, which you have to pay for, primarily because I can do remote packet captures from LWAPP APs.
I have AirMagnet and that's pretty good too.
One thing you might be interested in--we are reselling the Cognio RF analyzer now. It isn't cheap, but it's a laptop based spectrum analysis tool that has lots of really cool features.

I use CommView for WiFI from Tamosoft.
It works well, does pretty much anything you'd need for troubleshooting, and can be had for a cheap as US$200.00 a year (or US$600.00 for a full perpetual license)
AiroPeek and AirMagnet both cost thousands of dollars, and most functionality beyond what CommView offers is mostly bells & whistles (IMHO).
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have AirMagnet or AiroPeek, but since I'm buying my own software, the difference in cost is not worth it to me.
Good Luck
Scott

FYI, there is a personal version of OmniPeek available. It has a limit on simultaneous interfaces in use, but if it is for personal use you can check it out. I'm not sure if the EULA allows for any commercial use.

Hi Tony,
If you want to go with something thats cheap and works quite well you could look at a wireless sniffing package called "Kismet"
You can use Kismet to capture over the air and then use Ethereal(Wireshark) to look at the packets.
