Did you find a fix for it ?.

I notice my 5760 is having same problem lately, running 3.6.8E.

Hello Rasika
I have 3850MA - 3850MC - Core-6880 - Firewall - 4500 - 5508 GA.
When the client tries to connect over MA to GA, he gets an IP but not able to get the splash page.
But if connected on MC the same works.
Am seeing CAPWAPPING-3-PKT_RECV_ERROR in the logs.
Please advise if you have come across the same.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

We have decommissioned our converged access setup few years ago. We had 5760 as MC & 3850-3.6.5E as MA in few buildings. Guest redirection works without any issue from those MA connected APs.

Here is what I had on 3850 MA

wlan xxxGuest 24 xxxGuest
aaa-override
band-select
client vlan NATIVE-VLAN
ip dhcp required
mobility anchor x.x.49.1
no security wpa
no security wpa akm dot1x
no security wpa wpa2
no security wpa wpa2 ciphers aes
no security ft over-the-ds
security web-auth
security web-auth authentication-list default
session-timeout 14400
no shutdown

On 5760 MC,

wlan xxxGuest 15 xxxGuest
aaa-override
accounting-list xxx-GUEST
band-select
client vlan WLN-GUS-10
ip dhcp required
mobility anchor
no security wpa
no security wpa akm dot1x
no security wpa wpa2
no security wpa wpa2 ciphers aes
no security ft over-the-ds
security web-auth
security web-auth authentication-list xxx-GUEST
security web-auth parameter-map xxx_Web_Auth
session-timeout 14400
no shutdown

parameter-map type webauth global
type webauth
virtual-ip ipv4 x.x.x.x
!
!
parameter-map type webauth xxx_Web_Auth
type webauth
redirect for-login https://<redirect_url>
redirect portal ipv4 <redirect_portal_ip>

I do not think error msg you seen is related to the issue you described.

Hope above is helpful

Thanks Rasika
I have similar configuration on my MA and the GA.
But when the guest tries to connect via the MA, he gets the IP/DNS server etc. but he cannot resolve nslookup.
And also the splash page is not displayed even when I enter the IP address.
When I convert the same WLC to MC, guest can connect and authenticate on the splash page and connect.
Is there some kind of encapsulation that might prevent the dns request from the Client on MA ?
Would you know of any detail guide on packet flows between the MA -MC - GA.
Thanks,
Perpetua
