WLA & WCS Location Readiness

When I display location readiness in WCS, I notice that a lot of the areas were red.

Do the red areas indicate that more APs are needed for "location readiness"?

(Assuming that "location readiness" means that it cannot and will not track devices in the red areas.)

Yes, a red area means that you WLAN infrastructure is not ready to do location in this area.

To become green, the following conditions need to be met:

- at least four APs are deployed

- at least 3 APs are within 70 feets

- at least one AP is located in each of at least three surrounding quadrants

I would recommend you to follow the following guidelines:

1? The location appliance retains the four highest RSSI measurements plus any measurements above RSSI cutoff.

-> At least three APs (preferbly four) should detect client with RSSI > RSSI cutoff

2? Use proper AP placement:

-> APs should be located 50-70 feet apart

-> Ensure that APs are located along area perimeters, then provide additional interior APs

-> Stagger APs in corridor

-> Avoid center clustered and "straight line" designs
