WLAN Access Point Assign IP Address assigned by DHCP

Hi NetPro,

I'm facing some problem with the Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Point, Which is the DHCP assigned IP Address to this AP, i've configured static ip to this AP, but when in the Association panel , i saw AP has another IP address as well . i am using version 12.3(7)JA . this is not the right way , how could the AP has IP and it was assigned by DHCP server ? anyone has any idea about this ?

You would want to assign a static address to the BVI (Bridged Virtual Interface), i.e.,

config t

int bvi1

ip addr 172.31.1.12 255.255.255.0

no shut

^z

You may want to play with the web GUI to get the feel of the system, then look at the CLI output to see where the changes are made.

Just aim your browser at the assigned address, the default user & password is "cisco" (the password may be "Cisco" (cap 'c').

Out of the box, the unit has an IP address of 10.0.0.1/8

Thanks for replied, i've static ip address in the BVI1 already. but, while i am using GUI access to the AP, i saw the AP still in the table.

example :

BVI1 ip address : 10.1.1.10

and DHCP still assigned to the ip to this AP which is 10.2.2.100

how could 1 AP has 2 ip addresses ? because, in my DHCP range only up to 254 ip addresses. now each AP has 2 IPs , what if i have more then 150 APs ? the ip address is not enough to supply anymore.

that's why i said, this is not the right track .

any idea about that ?
