I've deployed a WLC 3504 with two 3800 APs - I had issues with Sonos and Samsung speakers connecting to the WiFi. I found this forum post - https://en.community.sonos.com/setting-up-sonos-228990/sonos-play-1-is-not-working-on-cisco-wi-fi-6807711
WLC configuration:
- CONTROLLER > GENERAL > AP Multicast Mode = Multicast, group IP is set to 239.1.1.1
- CONTROLLER > MULTICAST > Enable Global Multicast Mode = ON
- CONTROLLER > MULTICAST > Enable IGMP Snooping = ON
- CONTROLLER > mDNS > mDNS Global Snooping = ON
This solved the issue with the Sonos, I am able to get them to connect and I can 'select' and stream to them through the Sonos app, or directly from Spotify.
In addition, I have enabled broadcast forwarding, which allowed the Samsungs to connect - but I am not able to 'see them' in the Spotify app. When I was using a single 3700 AP in autonomous mode it was fine.
I assume it is some sort of multicast, but since its enabled for Sonos.. I am not sure where to go. Appreciate any guidance in what I should be looking at to support the Samsung devices, they are R1 and R3 speakers.
