WLC 4402 upgrade question

I'm upgrading my 4402 controllers from 4.2.112.0 to 4.2.209.0 and I also need the 4.2.205.0 ER.aes file. On a previous discussion I was given a link for the 4.2.205.0 ER.aes boot file for the 4404 controller. When I went to the 4402 controller software and clicked on the boot file 4.2.205.0 ER.aes, the file doesn't have the ER distinction. I was wondering if this is not really the ER.aes or is it just a typo in the file name?

Thanks, Pat.

You can differentiate the ER from the "real" software by the size. One is around 50Megs while the other one is a few megs only.

There has been a lot of confusion with some files containing "BOOT" in the file name or "ER" or other variants.

This comes from the fact that certain version contains the bootloader AND the recovery image, some only contain the ER image and not the bootloader.

For example, it might be that you install your 4.2.205 ER and if you do a show sysinfo the bootloader will still show as an old version. That would be because only the ER was contained in the file you installed and not the bootloader.

Hope this clarifies.

Nicolas

Thanks.

If the ER file that I install doesn't conrtain the bootloader should I be concerned? And if so, where would I find that software?

Thanks, Pat.

You can find the BOOT loader in the same download folder as the 4.2 code. Its called the 4.2.205 BOOT ...

So Goerge, are you saying I should install the 4.2.209.0 software, the 4.2.205.0 ER.aes software and the BOOT loader?

Thanks, Pat.

The "ER" and the bootloader/bootstrap is one and the same.

Thanks, Leolaohoo!!
