Hello Experts,

We have a WLC 5508 running 7.4.121.0  and have to upgrade it to support the 3702 AP's.

I checked the below compatibility Matrix and can see that 7.6.110.0 IOS can support the 3702 AP's.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

However I have a few questions,

1. We have existing 1142 AP's being managed by the same WLC, the AP version currently running is 15.2(2)JB3$, do we have to upgrade the AP's as well to 15.2(4)JB4 for the 1142 to work on the upgraded WLC 5508?

2. Which IOS version would be recommended for the above requirement and whats the upgrade path.

3. When I upgrade the WLC to 7.6.110.0 will all the existing (1142) AP's associate to the upgraded WLC or do i have to upgrade all the 70 AP's one by one to 15.2(4)JB4.

Your suggestions would be really appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Kevin

I think I figured out the answer myself.

answers,

1. No need to upgrade individual AP's as the WLC upgrade will upgrade all the connected AP's to the right code.

2. I believe 7.6 is a buggy version and we should try upgrading to 8.0.120 or later release.

3. refer to answer 1.

Thanks,

Kevin
