Hello friends,
I have about 100 access layer switches - L2 switches. Every day our wireless software, prime infrastructure, goes through via SNMP and does normal checks. I know this because every day at x time our log shows this:
%SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from 1.1.1.1 by snmp
1.1.1.1 is the address for prime infrastructure
In these checks, Prime infrastructure executes commands such as:
'show ap join stats summary'
'show nmsp status'
'show location civic-location static' etc.... I know because i do a 'sh history all' to see what commands prime inputs into the switch.
My question is this: Is it necessary for prime infrstructure to execute it's commands on switches that do not hold WAPs? Are all the commands it executes even usefull? For example, I execute 'show ap join stats summary' on the access layer switch, whether be one that holds WAPs or not - It does not show anything... It says 'number of APs is 0' , when there is clearly many APs on that switch. So how does prime infra even make use out of the command when it displays nothing?
Thank you

What ar eyour sync settings in regrads to devices and PI? Do you make PI or teh end device the master configuration holder?

They are all sorts of switch models from 3850s to 2960s. The master config holder is PI. I just wanted to know if it was necessary to have all the switches be queried by PI.
