Have a customer that is looking to upgrade his 5520 controllers but is reluctant because he has a large number of 7925G phones in their network.
I looked at the data sheet of the 7925G but it is saying anything better than 5.1 is recommended.
The question is:
As long as his Access Points are supported with the new code, the 7925 phones should still work. Correct? This is for a Nursing Home so having these phones work is critical.
Thank you

Yes, as long as APs are supported by WLC, then there should not be any major issues. Refer to the compatibility matrix for understanding which AP models supported by which code versions

Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925G, 7925G-EX, and 7926G Deployment Guide
In my opinion, if loaded with the correct firmware, 7925G is a very solid handset. Even though it has been superseded by the 8821, 7925G still exceeds everything from roaming to software stability (over the 8821).
There is no need to upgrade to the hopelessly unstable 8821.
