WLC can not ping SVI whiel I can access WLC

We recently bought a new WLC. The existing WLC is running on 8.5.110. The new one came with 8.5.131. I believe that we need same OS on both WLC for HA. Interestingly , image 8.5.110 has been removed from Cisco website due to some bugs.So I decided to upgarde the existing WLC. WLC 1 has management IP address 192.168.1.1/24. WLC2 has management IP address 192.168.1.2/24. The gateway is 192.168.1.252/24. From new WLC , I can ping anything in same VLAN including WLC1.I can uping and access WLC1 from my network. But I can not ping anything from WLC1 even the gateway. This WLC is not transferring config file to USB .It is also indicating connectivity issues to reach ftp server and tftp server. I am curious what to do.

Is the link a Trunk port or not?
If it is, what allowed VLANs are allowed on the trunk link?

Yes.the link is trunk with all VLAN allowed.

Duplicate IP address?

Don't see duplicate address. managed to download the code to the 3504. But after painful wait of 2 hours, it gave the following error:

transfer failure : version mismatch: the image version is not for this model.

I pushed same file to the new 3504 WLC and it accepted. Checked on Cisco website, it seems to be valid upgrade path. Now I am thinking if it is due to old image on AP

Can you post the complete output to the command "sh sysinfo"?

Removed IP address and location.

I'd upgrade to something more recent.  8.5.110.0 has some scary bugs.

The screenshot shows you're upgrading to 8.5.131.0.
Can you try upgrading to 8.5.140.0?

Is the WLC already in SSO?

You need code to be same on both WLCs to form the SSO if its not already in that state.

TAC recommended 8.5 train is 8.5.140.0

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/wireless-lan-controller-software/200046-tac-recommended-aireos.html

Around supported APs with each code:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

Other option to do the upgrade is via the service port with a laptop directly connected, and look at using the HTTP option for the file upload.

When you are consoled to the new WLC when it boots do you see any error messages?

Hi Hydan,

I tried 8.5.140 after TAC recommendation. But I see the same error message. I am uploading files via HTTP as I got a machine on LAN.

The new wlc is fine. It accepts the same image. Now the only problem is to upgrade the old wlc before creating HA.
