WLC central web authentication and http management

Hi Guys,

i'm having strange issue with my wlc (9800-CL) and central web authentication with ISE

Everithing works fine and if i connect to mu guest (both with mobile or PC) i'm immediately redirected to the web portal (PC) and my mobile show a pop up for authenticating the network.

If i disable on the wlc the http (port 80) management i have different be behavior and i have to open the browser to be redirected to the web portal?

any idea about this?

(i would like to disable http access and still maintain autmatic redirect)

Captive portal detection on all device types uses http (port 80, unencrypted) because it's impossible to use https because of certificate mismatches on redirects.  On a browser you can manually bypass the invalid certificate warnings (depending on browser type/version and OS) but it would be unsafe to do that automatically in a captive portal assistant. So if you want that functionality to work then you have no choice but to leave http enabled.
