WLC HA SKU install license issue？

Hi everyone； I have a problem is that WLC HA SKU license issue. I know the HA SKU don't need license,but whether we can install a license for the HA SKU,if it can do,will the HA SKU be a regular WLC？Is there any document explain it? Thank you!

You should mention what equipment you have and what license you have purchased. Also include what you are trying to accomplish.

No you can’t add license to those. They will only work as N+1.

Let me correct what I stated. The 2504 can only work as N+1, the 5508 can work as N+1 and SSO. Neither controllers that are HA SKU can have license added to be a standalone controller.

5508 HA sku will not take license. The newer controllers are RTU license and you can purchase license for them. That is the breakdown in a nutshell.

Hi Scott;

I probably understand that neither the WLC2504-HA SKU nor the WLC5508 HA SKU can install licenses. They cannot be used as separate controllers.

The WLC2504 HA SKU can only support N+1 HA, while the WLC 5508 HA SKU can support SSO and N+1, and the WLC 5508 HA SKU can be used as a separate device by activating the RTU license or purchasing other licenses.

Is the above understanding correct?

The 5508 doesn’t have RTU license only the 8510/5520/8540/3504. The 5508 ha sku can’t have license installed.
