Hello,

We have a vWLC with 8.3.143.0 image.

For some reason it assigns IP address from management interface IP range and not from the wlan range.

Does anyone know what might be issue?

What have you configured on the SSID? Is that interface actually existing?

Do you use 802.1x on the SSID and dynamically assign VLANs?

Interface exists and is bound to the corresponding wlan.

We use WPA2 + PSK for l2 authentication.

Ok, can you share the SSID configuration from the CLI? (show wlan numberofthewlan)

Plus a show interface detailed nameofinterface?

What is your global DHCP setting?

SSID config output rather long, I've included part of it.

If more information required, I can provide.

Ok this looks good. I think the time has come to do a wireshark or tcpdump on the DHPC server and check if 192.168.88.254 correctly receives the packets and also correctly responds by sending a 192.168.88.0/24 address to the client.

Can you also check if on the SSID under Advanced no alternative DHCP server has been set?

DHCP server works properly. The thing is that the same configuration works just fine on bare metal but has problem on vWLC.

I've tried upgrading and downgrading software but did not help.

Is it possible that its some kind of software bug? Have you ever experienced anything like that?

Ah vWLC, that has a few important details that you need to watch out for. I myself never used the vWLC though, I just read about it here.

I still think that this configuration should work correctly, if on the DHCP server is indeed a pool for this IP range configured.
