HI

Im setting up a WLC 5508 with no Lag. So i have to use multiple ap-mgmt inteface, but i am a little confused of how to set this up.

Should the management interface also support dynamic ap mgmt ? In the DHCP option 43 should I point to the ip of the Management interface or do I have to point to both the management interface and AP management ip address ?

Should management interface and ap mgmt interface be on the same vlan/ip subnet or different ?

Hope u guys can help me with this one

Regards

Even

Hi,

5508 WLC management interface by default does 2 things.. management interface and also acts as a AP manager interface as well..

Option 43 should point to management interface IP

The management and the Dynamic AP manager SHOULD be on the different subnet...

here is the link which gives u deoth info..

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.0/configuration/guide/c70mint.html#wp1277659

Lemme know if this answered your question!!

Thank´s answering !

I can see in Figure 3-21 that all the AP-mgmt interface uses the same ip address, I understand that Cisco recomend that we use same ip subnet/vlan for the ap mgmt interface but should they be on the exact same ip ?

How should the switch config be against the ports of the WLC ?

Do I have to add the AP mgmt vlan over the trunk to the ports on the WLC ?

Erik

Hi,

Now am confused.. I think the post started on the Multiple AP manager interface and now you are pointing the link to LAG on the WLC... Here is the lik to configure Multiple AP manager interface..

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.0/configuration/guide/c70mint.html#wp1294453

Each AP manager interface should be mapped to each port of the WLC..

and yes those VLANs should be allowed on the trunk port to the switch.

Lemme know if this answered your question!!

Ok thank´s again, the figure I was pointing to is at the bottom of the document describing multiple ap interface.

It was just a picture over all the interface of the WLC and i can see that the Dynamic ap-mgmt interface are set up with the same ip address.

But anyway thank´s for the help , I think I have understood the basic.
