Hello All, we are running a WLSE V2.9 and we are having problems when we are trying to download default configurations to our AP'S (1200 running latest IOS). This is what we are trying to do
We have added the .ini options and ip address on our dhcp servers
We can download a default configuration to our AP's for a particular subnet but when we try to do a startup config template
What we want to do is then get the WLSE to download the AP's stored configuration using the auto managed templates (based on Serial Number)
We dont want to store the configs on the AP's (in case they are stolen) so everytime they boot up we want them to download a default config then automatically download their stored config all without saving to flash
thanks

Not sure what your problem is here. Startip Config are pushed to new factory default AP who have DHCP address. Once they get it and discovered by WLSE, then Auto-Managed Configs be applied to them. But Auto-Manage config only gets applied to the newly discoverd devices once, not always.

Rizwan,
You're absolutely right with this answer but unfortunately this is not what the person was looking for.
I have the same question:
Our APs are installed in locations where they can easily be stolen.
Of course by disabling
To solve this, a DHCP/TFTP boot solution would be ideal.
I can think of two solutions for this:
*) boot with minimal tftp config and have the WLSE push the template each time a AP reboots (weither it is managed or not);
*) boot with a complete tftp boot template managed by the WLSE and dynamically build using device specific parameters and secure the TFTP Server;
Your answer tells me the first option is not available (correct?).
The WLSE lets me create device specific templates that can be used as auto-start templates.
I experimented with this but the WLSE seems to only push the plain template without device specific parameters.
Have you any idea?
Thanks,

I believe there is an option to load the template into the ap without writing it to nvram. I havent tried it, and couldnt tell you if it works, but you might want to give it a shot. You can set up a repeating schedule to push the template to all AP's every so often as well in case a device reboots.
