WPA2 on 857w - which IOS ?

Hello

I have a 857W with ios 12.4(6)T7

Cisco IOS Software, C850 Software (C850-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(6)T7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc5)

However it doesn't appear to have WPA2 functionality.

That is, AES ( aes-ccmp )  is not an option in the configuration

router1(config)#interface dot11radio0

router1(config-if)#encryption vlan <number> mode ciphers ?

  tkip    WPA Temporal Key encryption

  wep128  128 bit key

  wep40   40 bit key

router1(config)#interface dot11radio0

router1(config-if)#ssid <<ssid_my_network>>

router1(config-if-ssid)#authentication key-management ?

  cckm  allow CCKM clients

  wpa   allow WPA clients

I've seen posts regarding 857W configuration which have AES in them, so I'm hoping this is an issue with the version of IOS I'm running.

Does anybody know if WPA2 is supported for this router, and if so, for which versions of IOS ??

Thanks in advance

Damian

Part of having the ability of WPA2 is the hardware. Some older hardware can't support WPA2. If you have the latest code and there is no WPA2 configurable option, then I would have to say that its probably due to the hardware you have.

Thanks, I forgot to mention the hardware, the model is 857W-G-A-K9 V02.

Show version details :

Cisco 857W (MPC8272) processor (revision 0x200) with 59392K/6144K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID FHK112010WP

MPC8272 CPU Rev: Part Number 0xC, Mask Number 0x10

4 FastEthernet interfaces

1 ATM interface

1 802.11 Radio

128K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.

20480K bytes of processor board System flash (Intel Strataflash)

This documentation

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps380/ps6195/product_data_sheet0900aecd8028a9a9.html

appears to show that WPA2 should be featured,

i.e.

WLAN Security Features  : Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) & AES (WPA2)

I'll quite happily upgrade ( or downgrade ) to another IOS if that fixes the problem, but I'm hoping someone may know which IOS will resolve the issue

i.e.

- if missing WPA2 is just a bug in this version 12.4(6)T7

or

- if WPA2 support only added from 12.4(11)T7 etc.

Thanks

I looked on the Cisco IOS platform/vesion compare page and am pretty sure it confirms the version of IOS is the issue :

I'll upgrade soon and hopefully that solves the issue

Yep, upgraded the IOS (to c850-advsecurityk9-mz.124-15.T14.bin) and WPA2 now working (after a bit of reconfig due to ssid config now being global rather than interface context)
