Wrong regulatory domain

I got some 1142n-E-k9 on ebay, but should have got 1142n-N-k9..........

Thought I checked this out first but the australian website i went to was selling the wrong ones too! @###

so it wont register with my 4402 controller.

I have 2 options I guess:

1/ set the WLC to a country code that matches the E version? (USA ????)

2/ change the 1142n to the different regulatory domain. Is this possible ?

Hi,

From the WLC GUI.. Wireless >> Country >> Select the country which is needed and Apply.. this will do it for you!! make sure we need to disable to make this changes..

-E is for europe mainly so pick any european country :-)

US is -A (america)

pretty silly cisco doesnt let you change the country settings on the wlap..

all working nicely now....

It's not silly. It's "we have to do it to be compliant with the laws".

The FCC won't let you sell devices in America that are only certified with european ETSI for example. And since wifi has different channels and power settings in each country, ...

If Cisco was selling APs capable of all powers and channels in all countries, then people would use the coutnry code allowing for the max power and max amount of channels. And FCC and ETSI forbid this, that's why the APs are hardware-different in each regulatory domain.
