ASR 9000 XR OS software

Hi all,

Could we please get someone clarify that if we could only  buy  two RSP 440 hardware without  to buy "Cisco IOS XR IP/MPLS Core Software 3DES" image? since  we already have lots of ASR9000 in our network and using same image, could we use it for new RSP 440?

hi eric,

you probably best take this up with your account manager, it may depend on the way the contracts are set up.

the sw bundled with the hw does define 2 key things: the right to use license for the sw on the hw, sw support (upgrades etc) and also when hw exchnages (RMA) is done they are not shipped blind with no image.

anyways best to check with your AM since there may be an umbrella license or contract in place etc. however in general they are always ordered together.

the sw on the standby rp does not require an extra right to use license.
