Hi all

I see that the following LC are an option for the ICL with the host A9K

The Cisco ASR 9000v satellite shelf has 44 gigabit ethernet SFP ports and four 10 gigabit ethernet SFP+ ports which can be connected to the following line cards that support 10 gigabit ethernet interfaces:

•the 24-port 10GE SE or 24-port 10GE TR line card

•the 36-Port 10GE SE or 36-Port 10GE TR line card

•the 80 Gigabyte modular line card when populated with 4-port 10GE Modular Port Adapters (MPA) or 2-port 10GE MPAs

•the 160 Gigabyte modular line card when populated with 4-port 10GE MPAs or 2-port 10GE MPAs

since none of the above mentioned cards are available for me at this time

i was wondering if for test purpose it is possible to connect the ICL to the SFP+ ports on the RSP440G (that I gathered are used for ICL in cluster mode)

or to a 1GE port on a 20X1GE MPA

Hello Lior,

Unfortunately that is not possible.

The uplinks on 9000v are 10G, so we need to connect them to 10G LC on the host (ASR9k).

SPF+ ports on RSP440 are for a cluster inter-rack management only. They don’t support anything else.

As you can see there is an answer below

for ASR9Kv only SFP+/XFP 10GB ports and not the SFP+ ports on the RSP as they are meant for cluster Mgmt function (nV satellite is nV but not a cluster...)

BTW - there is at least 1 device that would connect via 1GB as satellite - this is the ASR901

The 9000v can now do 1G ICL, as of 5.1.1, on 1/45 and 1/46.

In cluster we have IRL (data) and EOBC (internal control).

Satellite has ICL (data/control).

Thank you. I have read that also but I just cant get it to work. Still working on it and have a TAC case open. But nothing yet. I am running 5.1.1. When I set it up using 10 GB it works so I know the config is correct. Just need to figure out why its not working with the 1GB might just be the 1 GB SFP is not working. I have tried to different ones. Still nothing.

I looked at the optic from the case notes, Part number: QFBR-5766LP, and I am not familiar with that one. The SN does not show in the DB either. Given the operational state is 'down (reason: module is not supported)' tells me that this is some optic we don't support.

Also please make sure that the satellite is up to date on rommon, fpga, and ios.

We switched our SFP to 1GB GLC-SX-MMD since the 1GB GLC-SX-MM isn't supported. Still didn't work. We connected back up with the 10GB connection and the satellite came right up again.

We noticed the IOS is only on 202.00 and yours was on IOS: 322.6. Do you have a document that shows us how to upgrade the satellite. When we do a install nv satellite 100 activate progress . It fails. We are currently running 5.1.1 on our 9001 cluster so do we just need to upgrade the satellite? .

Def upgrade, 202 is from 4.2.1.

Try without the progress keyword.

Also, make sure that MPP is not blocking TFTP and you do not have a tftp homedir setup.

despite the response time, could you tell me how to remove tftp's home dir setting for default vrf? I have already enabled tftp on the port that is connected to satellite and etc. Thank you very much in advance!

It is only an issue if you have explicitly set the homedir, you can find whether it is configured or not by running 'show run | i tftp'.
