ASR9001 Last Software Version?

Looking to upgrade an ASR9001 router to latest supported EMR release.

Currently running 6.7.3, but is this really the last supported version?

Release notes for version 6.8.2 shows ASR9001 in the supported hardware list, but the ASR9000_Upgrade_Downgrade_Procedure_IOSXR_Rel_6.8.2.pdf says "IOS XR Release 6.8.2 does not support the Cisco ASR 9001 router. We recommend that you choose IOS XR Release 6.7.3 for this router."

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr9000/software/asr9k-r6-8/release/notes/b-release-notes-asr9k-682.html

Release notes for version 6.9.1 shows ASR9001 in the supported hardware list and no caveats are listed for 6.9.1.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr9000/software/asr9k-r6-9/release/notes/b-release-notes-asr9k-691.html

The release and strategy guide says, "Last release for ASR9k 2nd generation line cards (aka Typhoon) is 6.7.3, except asr9001."

https://community.cisco.com/t5/service-providers-knowledge-base/ios-xr-release-strategy-and-deployment-suggestion/ta-p/3165422

Is 6.8.2 compatible or not?

Is 6.9.1 compatible or not?

Hello @kmccormick ,

For ASR 9001 chassis, I can confirm that the last supported version is 6.9.1 which is also the last 32-bits software. 6.8.2 is also supported on ASR 9001 platform.

It's available to download on software.cisco.com.

Regarding the 6.7.3 release exception, it still apply on typhoon Line cards except the ASR 9001.

Hope it clears your doubt.

Please mark the post as resolved if all your questions are answered.

Kind Regards,

Antoine
