asr9k 6.2.25 to 6.2.3 upgrade

Hi,

im upgrading a 9904/RSP880/MOD400 from 6.2.25 to 6.2.3 32bit

i cant seem to find any documentation or upgrade guide/procedure to see if any bridge smu are required.

im refering to the upgrade guides that i have used in the past located at

https://www.cisco.com/web/Cisco_IOS_XR_Software/index.html

looks like there is nothing for 6.x

thanks for your help

Mark

You can make use of CSM Server. The migration using CSM Server is explained in this video: • https://youtu.be/RVgR0TdbpVw.

If you prefer the manual way, the migration is explained here:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr9000/migration/guide/b-migration-to-ios-xr-64-bit.html

Hi Aleksandar,

thanks - but I will remain with the 32bit version for now, and still using the CSM java based client on my laptop, but looks like the CSM server is defintely useful.

is there any other document i should refer to for the 'manual' upgrade 32bit ?

hi Mark,

sorry, I presumed you were migrating to eXR. :)

In your case there's nothing special that you need to do to migrate from 6.2.25 to 6.2.3. No bridge SMUs or anything. Also, contrary to the best practice when upgrading from 5.3.x, you can leave the fpd auto-upgrade enabled.

CSM application was kind of a teaser compared to what CSM Server can do! :) If you have 4 minutes to spare, here's a short CSM Server intro video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isxN08x-mr4.
