ASR9K - DHCPv6 Relay / Proxy - Remote / Circuit-id

Hello all

We are using ASR9k to provide PPPoE / Dual-stack termination for our subscribers. We are considering to move the DHCPv6 functionality in extrernal servers and have the ASR9k operate as proxy for the DHCP-PD address allocation.

The DSLAMs are able to send subscriber information like circuit-id / remote-id through PPPoE to the ASR9K. This is not the case for the DHCP_PD requests since most of DSLAMs cannot insert such information in the appropriate DHCPv6 option - e.g. option 37. In this way if we move the DHCP_PD address allocation to an extrenal server, I can see no easy way for this server to get DSLAM port information.

When the ASR9K operates as DHCPv6 proxy is there a way to send the remote-id / circuit-id information, that were received through PPPoE, to the external DHCPv6 server. The Relay messages produced by ASR9K contain the options 37, 18 is there a way for the ASR9K to send the DSLAM port information, received through PPPoE, in these fields of the DHCPv6 relay-forward messages?

Any input is welcomed
