ASR9K LIne card license

Hi

I want to remove a line card from a device and add it to another advice.For that i need to move its license as well .The platform is 9010 v 5.3.3 .As its old card so PAK is not known or lost .How can i download a new licencse associated with new ASR serial number for this card

Hi,

the license you have is most probably associated with the chassis. I think that you can not move the license to another chassis. Only in the case of RMA.

But hey, you can ask the licensing team.

I would recommend using Cisco Smart Licensing where you have a pool with licenses and the devices can use the licenses that are in the pool.

correct license is tied to the chassis serial.

if you need to move the card/license to another chassis, and if you are using traditional licensing, you'd have to open a case with the ww-licensing team to request a rehost of that license to the other chassis serial.

smart licensing as smail points out makes it all a bit easier to manage this licensing stuff.

this is a good starting point for smart lic.
