IOS-XR running-config

Hi everyone,

I’d like to ask for your help with the following question.
Unfortunately, I’m still not very familiar with the inner workings of IOS-XR.

We have two completely identical ASR9903 routers running the same version of IOS-XR.
I’ve noticed several times that configuration lines with identical content appear in different places and in a different order in the configurations of the two devices.
I noticed this when I compared their running configs.

Is this normal behavior?
What could be the reason for this?

I’ve attached a picture where it’s visible.

Configurations have different weights or bands, so for instance hostname is one of the most important configurations so its always done near the beginning, however some configurations share the same weight and at that point it matters in which order you applied the configuration as to which lines appear in which order. As a test we can try to remove the configurations and apply them in the order you want to see them in.

Sam

Certain sections of the configuration appear in identical positions, such as interfaces, OSPF, and BGP.
I only noticed this behavior towards the end of the configuration, in areas like SNMP and license information.

I attempted to remove and reapply these configuration sections. We have four identical routers, but I was unable to achieve a uniform configuration layout across all of them.

Functionally, everything is working correctly—this is purely a cosmetic concern.

However, if this is expected behavior and not a fault, then it’s not an issue.
