We have multiple Cisco ASR9900 series routers, 2 located in the same country, and 2 others used as PoP routers in other IXP locations. We have multiple different subsea cables connecting between these sites, which makes it an issue when a certain subsea cable is faced with an issue, as it disconnects PoP sites from the core.
Is it possible to use a Satellite connection to rectify this issue, as in having a dedicated satellite link to pass the traffic (including iBGP, OSPF, etc..). Or preferably (as it is cheaper), can it be passed via Internet Satellite service like StarLink for example to reconnect the core routers to the PoP router/s? Can this solution pass iBGP, OSPF & other control traffic?
