L2Transport command (IOS-XR)

Hello all.  Without having to go through tons of documentation (which I will at some point), i'm just trying to figure out what this command does when put on an interface?  For example, I notice I could apply a service policy directly under the interface, and then I could specify the l2transport and put the policy under there as well.  I'm assuming it's L3 and L2 difference but if someone could clarify this for me, I would appreciate it.

Also, does this need to be configured when putting an interface into a BVI?

Thanks all.

Hi Michael,

l2transport command makes that the interface or sub-interface  behaves like a L2 interface and must be used in all VPWS or VPLS attachment circuits.
