N540X-6Z18G-SYS-A and BFD

Hello,

I'm trying to configure BFD parameters under BGP, and while it allows me to configure timers I can't seem to find how to configure BFD fall-over on my peer. It does allow me to configure BFD fast-detect but I specifically need to enable fall-over.

Could anyone confirm if fall-over is actually available for this model, or it's configured in a certain way different from XE. I have latest software installed 24.3.2.

Hi,

In IOS XR, enabling BFD for a BGP neighbor automatically integrates fast failover behavior, there is no separate command like in XE.
When the BFD session fails, the BGP session is immediately brought down without relying on BGP hold timers.

Thanks,
Sam

Thanks for replying so quickly Sam! So if I apply BFD on the BGP global would that enable it for all peers or is there something I need to do to enable specifically for a neighbor (like enabling bfd fast-detect?)
