Does the Network Convergence System NCS5500 support multicast forwarding? If yes, which flavors of PIM?

If no, will it? When?

Hi Carlos,

in current release (6.1.1 / 6.1.2), the NCS 5500 supports PIM SSM and IGMPv3.

More "legacy" routing technologies (ASM: PIM SM, IGMPv2, MSDP, Auto-RP, BSR, etc) are targeted for 6.2.2 (should be around Apr 2017).

Thank you very much, Nicholas. I couldn't even find the commands in both the command reference and the configuration guide.

One quick followup: 6.1.1/6.1.2 are not available through software download webpage. Same for both release notes documents. How are these two versions "current"? When will they be available to general public?

Hi Carlos,

the 6.1.1 was a limited edition provided directly to customers.

6.1.2 will be released in mid-November and will be the generally available image.

hi,

we are evaluating cisco NCS-5500.

i have simple setup working on classical IOS and NXOS without issues - PIM SM with static RP in vrf lite.

trying to migrate this to NCS but still no luck. i see mrib entries but no mfib.

is this supported at all in:

Cisco IOS XR Software, Version 6.2.25 ?

tried same multicast configuration in global routing table - all works fine.

i believe mcast in vrf not supported as of now.

Correct, its not supported in a VPN/VRF at the moment, coming around mid 2018 for VRF lite.

Hi Guys,

Please advise if Auto-RP is supported in XR 6.3.3. I can see a few commands running but auto-RP is not working for me. any specific configuration i am missing.
