NCS540 Specification

I am preparing router specification for upcoming projects and unable to find following parameters related to NCS540 routers in the cisco datasheets.

  1. Max nos. of Active Route Table (FIB) IPv4 prefixes and IPv6 prefixes.
  2. Max nos. of routing table (RIB) for IPv4 and IPv6.
  3. Max nos. of IS-IS/OSPF neighbors.
  4. Max nos. of IPv4 ACLs and IPv6 ACLs.
  5. Max nos. of BGP neighbors.

can someone help me to get the above parameters.

These are not easy to answer because of how TCAM is split between LEM and LPM and with anchor prefixes as well as other considerations such as these are unidimensional scale numbers. We don't make a difference between rib and fib, only bgp paths (think multipath) and rib on tortin.

In order of column is as below.

column 1 (N540-24Z8Q2C-SYS, N540(X)-ACC-SYS (NCS-540 Tortin))

column 2 (N540X-12Z16G-SYS-D/A, N540-28Z4C-SYS-D/A, N540-12Z20G-SYS-D/A, N540-FH-CSR-SYS)

column 3 (N540X-6Z18G-SYS-D/A, N540X-4Z14G2Q-D/A, N540X-8Z16G-SYS-D/A)

column 4 (N540-24Q8L2DD-SY)

Max nos. of Active Route Table (FIB) IPv4 prefixes and IPv6 prefixes.

Max nos. of routing table (RIB) for IPv4 and IPv6.

IPv4 BGP/RIB only 18M/12M 8M 8M 10M
IPv6 BGP/RIB only 17M/12M 8M 8M 10M

Max nos. of IS-IS/OSPF neighbors.

ISIS peers 50 50 50 300
OSPF peers 100 100 50 300

Max nos. of IPv4 ACLs and IPv6 ACLs.

IPv4 / IPv6 Ingress unique ACLs 127 127 127 127
IPv4 / IPv6 Egress unique ACLs 255 255 255 255
IPv4 Ingress ACEs 4k 2k 2k 4k
IPv6 Ingress ACEs 2k 2k 2k 2k
IPv4 Egress ACEs 4k 2k 2k 4k
IPv6 Egress ACEs 2k 2k 2k 2k

Max nos. of BGP neighbors.

BGP neighbors 110 110 110 500

Hi,

Not the kind of information you are going to find int the Datasheet, some of them you probably will not find at all like how many BGP neighbord?

Example, If the routing table is up to 4M IPv4 routes and you add a BGP neighbord which has 4M IPv4 routes and you accept all those routes, then, you can have only one neighbord or your crash the router.

.Some of this information you get from the resseler.

But, some informatio you can get from ciscos docs, not necessarily datasheet.

Used for unicast route scale up to 2M or 4M IPv4 Routes

I am attaching a pdf with most of this information.

this varies quite a bit depends on the NCS 540 variant, as an example 100 OSPF peers for Tortin/Big Bend and 300 for Arches variant.
