PTP and frequency sync in ASR 9K for telecom

Hello Experts

Can anyone explain the way to achieve PTP and frequency sync in ASR 9K, running IOS-XR? I was not able to fully follow the below link:-

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr9000/software/asr9k_r4-3/system_management/configuration/guide/b_sysman_cg43asr9k/b_sysman_cg43asr9k_chapter_01011.html#task_45F506DB71A045ABA126740ADA80561C

We have GPS based Microsemi S650 NTP server which can provide both NTP and PTP sync to the ASR, but not sure how to take that input and provide E1 (2.048 Mhz) clock/frequency to native telecom nodes. Do we need to purchase special modules like E1/T1 controller cards for this purpose? How to connect the telecom nodes from the router, which has many ports named "Sync0, Sync1, BITS, PPS".

The configuration examples in documentation are a bit difficult to follow.

Regards,

Sumanta.

I don't know the answer.  My thoughts are if you want to provide clock sync to an E1 infrastructure then you will need an E1 card to connect to that infrastructure to supply that clock sync
