Dears,

I got a question about the show ip route output on XR OS:
#sh ip route 1.0.0.0/24
Fri Oct 30 07:17:21.049 GMT

Routing entry for 1.0.0.0/24
Known via "bgp 4134", distance 200, metric 0
  Tag 6453, type internal
  Installed Sep  3 17:07:13.965 for 8w0d
  Routing Descriptor Blocks
    118.84.123.36, from 202.97.32.84
      Route metric is 0
  No advertising protos.

can anyone tell me what does "No advertising protos" mean? I tried all my best but no hope.

Hello Samuelli6,

The line 'No advertising protos.' is indicator which protocol is reditributing the route. By default show route never shows which protocol is redistributing the route.

For connected and local routes IGP (such as OSPF) can set an advertisement to indicate it is running on the interface.

Example try performing show ip route x.x.x.x -> for any LOCAL ospf interface on the device. The output will show:
 Redist Advertisers:
    ospf <process name>

Let us know if that answers the question.

thank you so much!
