Backup to a different NFS servers.

Hello,

I am planning to migrate my backup servers to AWS.

I already have an sftp service set up.

If I create a separate NFS service via Storage Gateway, will the backups work? Or does Cat.Center require the backups to be backed up on the same destination device?

You can have different backup any where as long as Catalyst center supported format.

or you looking to backup 2 Locations ?

We already have an SFTP/SCP server configured.

I was wondering, do I configure a different NFS-only server or are backups required to be stored on the same server?

In the configuration page for NFS, it asks for a hostname and a full path. Asking for the hostname/IP implies that I can choose a different server. However, documentation states that the SCP credentials will be used to access the NFS share.

Check the backup and restore requirement.

For Assurance you need to configure NFS share to take full backup, you need NFS mount point for the backup.

check below guide lines :

I understand that.

I have both the assurance and system backups in one server. My question is: can they be different servers? My gut feeling says no because DNA utilizes the same credentials for SCP and NFS.

You have both different servers or same.

Remote Host uses the Credential for the backup

NFS you need IP and mount point (how you configured on NFS side you need to give access for DNAC to have access to NFS to write) - this is not credentials. this is just path.

You can have one server for the rsync (automation) backup piece and a completely different server for the NFS piece. That is fine. The issue is AWS usually adds a level of latency that causes the mount to fail.
