Stacking on C9500

Good day all,

I have a sort of a silly question, I currently have 2 C9500-40X running stackwise. I know these are EOL already and just had a quick question.  I am going to replace them with a pair of C9500-24Y4C-A my question, I will probably not be able to replace them right away as I am working on other more high priority projects but if one of the C9500-40X dies I would be able to just slip in the new C9500-24Y4C-A into the stack without any issues correct?  The only issues is that now instead of 2 40 ports I will have 1 40 port and one 24 port correct?

Thank you in advance!!

Warren

No, this does not work! The hardware of both switches needs to be exactly the same.

HTH!

Hello @gurowar

The StackWise Virtual configuration between different switch models is not supported.

See other thread here:

Thank you Jens, I was hoping that perhaps because they are the same family (C9500) that it might work but thank you for letting me know!!
