Bootable iso?

Many posts point to PUT which appears to no longer be active.  Other posts 'show' how to create a bootable iso from a non bootable.

Is there a way to order a bootable iso?  Or do I need to use the non supported methods I am finding?

Correct, that link allows you to obtain a bootable ISO, but the challenge is that it does not always provide the exact version you need. In my case, I was able to download the SU2 version, while my installation was running SU3. Since I have no way to download that same SU3 version, I cannot perform a reinstallation and restore my backup properly.

You can run the installation with the SU2 version and select to during the installation also install the SU3 update, resulting in a system that runs the target version you want.

Follow the @Roger Kallberg suggestion, go with SU2 and select the Upgrade option during the installation to move to SU3.
Otherway, reach out to TAC, and they will provide you with the exact version of the bootable ISO.

If a bootable ISO is officially available, you likely need to create one using the supported community method. Just use a trusted guide and verify the ISO before installing.

Is there a "supported community method"?  All I have read says there isn't.

From what I know there has never been a supported way to create a bootable image.

In my opinion, Cisco should add a feature to the Software Download portal that lets customers select the exact software version they need and download it either as a bootable image or as an upgrade package.

This has long been a pain point during deployments, and there is still no simple way to obtain the correct version when performing a reinstall and restoring from backup.

It’s not very hard to open a service request with TAC to get access to the version you’ll need. Not IMHO anyway. You might feel differently.

In my previous organization, we created an inventory of all the bootable IOS images with the help of all collab engineers we had. For versions 14 and 15, we had all the bootable ISO images. However, the repository is no longer managed as I was the admin and I left the organization.

You can build one as we did.

As the upgrade option is available during the installation, we always make use of it. TAC will provide you with all the required ISO versions you are looking for, and it's not a difficult task to open a TAC case.
