having issues with Outlook 2010 and the WebEx Add-in

We are having issues with Outlook 2010.

When you open a recurring meeting, it won't close.  Eventually it forces you to shut down the WebEx addin and remove it.

According to tech support, WebEx does not support Outlook 2010? !!!

This is a major issue in a Major Software Release.

This was a very valuable tool but now we are going to have to remove 10,000 webex add-ins because, they don't work.

Please find a fix and get it out to your customers (Partner versions too).

We do not officially support Outlook 2010 at this time.  We do currently have it in our roadmap, however I don’t have a timeframe I can share publicly at this time.

Is there any update to this?

This is making it quite difficult to manage meeting scheduling with WebEx and Outlook.

It is now October 2010 and there has still been no word on the Outlook 2010  32/64 Bit plugins. This is still wreaking havoc with scheduling and planning, since a single meeting now requires many more scheduling steps for booking rooms, systems and other resources.

Office 2010 is rolling out to more desktops and as this occurs the problem is getting worse and worse. A timeline or release date would be extremely appreciated.

Is there any update on the support for WebEx Productivity tools in Outlook 2010? As well as Outlook 2010 64-bit?

This has been a while now.

So the actual answer is "NO, THERE IS NOT SUPPORT FOR 64-BIT OUTLOOK 2010 AT THIS TIME. IT IS TO FOLLOW..."

Yes with WebEx scheduling that's the case. With MP scheduling it is even further out

Hi all,

I wanted to acknowledge your requests for an update. We are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it as soon as possible. I expect to have an update on timeframes shortly and will post it just as soon as I have a firm date to communicate.

Thanks,

Melody

It is now 3 December 2010.

Office 2010 has been RTM since April, yet it is still not supported by Cisco WebEx.

A timescale update was promised by mkee on 14 October to quote "shortly"   Any update ?

As promised, I'd like to give an update on this:

  • Support for 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 (32 bit) using WebEx Productivity Tools was introduced in our latest release via WBS27.SP21
  • Support for 64-bit Microsoft Office 2010 (32 bit) using WebEx Productivity Tools and support for sharing Microsoft Powerpoint presentations (32-bit) is committed for the Jan 2011 timeframe
  • Support for sharing Microsoft Powerpoint presentations (64-bit) is committed for the Feb 2011 timeframe

Thank you,

Melody

I would be happy with a workaround that would allow me to ONLY schedule WebEx meetings in Outlook.
This is my greatest need.

Melody,

Many thanks for the update.

I can confirm that after upgrading to this version the issue has been resolved.

Can I ask however that the version numbers are made clearer on the download section.

On the software download page the Meeting Center client version is shown as 27.21SP.0.8882 but nothing is shown for the Tools version.

The actual version number of the Productivity Tools installtion MSI file is 2.17.2100 which is also the version number displayed in Add/Remove Programs.

The actual version displayed in the execuatble properties (ptoneclk.exe) is 27.2010.9.19.

As can be seen there are three different ways of showing the version, maybe this can be standardised more ?

Is there a notification list for new versions ?

Hi Eddie,

Thank you for your feedback on the versioning. I have provided your feedback to the team so that we can address that and make it more standardized going forward.

As for notifications for new versions, we notify the Site Administrator of new releases before any changes are made to your WebEx site.

Melody

   Hello Mkee,

You mentioned Jan 2011 for the release of the support of 64-bit Outlook.  Any updates on this?

Thanks
