Greetings,
Using Jabber 10.5(4) and clients on the internet using VPN with split tunneling are unable to launch desktop sharing with an error "cannot connect to server". My initial thought is that the client is trying to initiate communication with an internal domain name that is not advertised on the internet. I'm not sure how the desktop sharing works, so looking for information to confirm my theory.
Thanks!

users going through the vpn cannot perform dns resolution?

That is what I am thinking, either that or the server is not allowed to talk to the VPN clients through the firewall. Need to verify what the traffic flows look like so we can see where the communication is broked.

I am having the same issue. Was a resolution found?

Is this IM sharing of desktop? (no active call)
This should be an issue with ports being blocked in firewall

That is what I am thinking, or DNS is sending the client to the wrong address. The planning guide lists the ports used by the client.

So your Jabber clients do register through the VPN? if so is it just desktop sharing that does not work? does IM work across the VPN?

Yes, IM worked, but the desktop sharing gets "cannot communicate with server".
