Jabber for IM Only

We have several people that are hired and not assigned a phone nor extension.  Is it possible to set up Jabber for these individuals as IM or IM and Presence only using call manager 11.5?  If so does this count toward our Licenses?

Thank you

Austin

Yes, follow the regular integration/configuration guide for CUCM/IM&P/Jabber and then simply disregard the steps related to configuring the devices in CUCM.

you can deploy Jabber IM only mode as others mentioned and It will use the UCL license.

It does not if you do not provision the devices, and the customer just connects to IM and Presence.

If your base jabber-config.xml has telephony and voicemail disabled then they just install the client, open, and go.

If it does not, and you need a group configuration to turn those off, then you need to create a device and then it does use a license.
