Jabber for Windows issues (display name and voicemail)

Hi,

Facing following issues in Jabber Windoes 9.7 and CUCM/CUPS 9.1

1. Jabber always displays name@domain on the top of the screen. What I want to display only user name there like Alice Jobs however it always display alice.jobs@walner.com

Which parameter controls this behavior?

2. Jabber is not displaying voicemail icon on the left tab. I've configured the voicemail credentials under 'phone accounts' and in status, it show connected using protocol VMREST, but no voicemail icon.

Also configured UC profile in CUCM for both voicemail (unity connection) and mailstore.

I can forward the call to voicemail from Jabber, but the only issue is there is no voicemail tab on left side and hence don't get voicemail notification.

Please suggest.

Regards

Vipul

1 The directory integration, there's a whole chapter on the topic in the Jabber documentation, either EDI or UDS. If you haven't done anything, it will be EDI by default with SRVs, all you need to know about the topic, is in the Jabber config guide on cisco.com

2 Have you tried the Voicemail_Enabled tag in the jabber-config.xml

if this helps, please rate

1. Thanks

2. This flag didn't make any impact. Can you please let me know what is the difference between 'voicemail' and 'mailstore' profile in CUCM? I can see different behavior in Jabber with respect to displaying voicemail icon which depends on whether 'voicemail' or 'mailstore' profile is set. Didn't get much detail from docs about the exact difference between these two.

Regards

In general for mailstore and voicemail service you fill in unity connection information

Mailstore is where the voice mails are stored

Voicemail is needed for visual voice mail in jabber (if I am correct)

Regards

Try gpupdate /force for the voicemail tab to appear on jabber I just had this issue this week. Didn't investigate it much further but that quickly resolved the issue.

For the voicemail,

Check if you are able to access https://<unity_ip>/ciscopca and try logging in usign the Unity 'alias' id and the webapplication password. If this is failing this will be an issue on the Unity connection side. Jabber 9.7

Unity Connection needs to be configured a tlittle

As for the jabber-config.xml

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_7/JABW_BK_C4C679C9_00_cisco-jabber-for-windows-97/JABW_BK_C4C679C9_00_cisco-jabber-for-windows-97_chapter_0110.html#CJAB_RF_V0450809_00

<VVM_Mailstore_Server_0>hostname</VVM_Mailstore_Server_0>

was changed to <VoicemailPrimaryServer>hostname</VoicemailPrimaryServer>

Can't remember what version this was changed though..

Please double check if voicemail profile/mailstore is configured and applied appropirately to the Service Profile in CUCM (probably ok since VMRest is connected)

Note: Please consider upgrading jabber as 9.7 is very old in Jabber age and End of software support is Oct 2018
