Moving CISCO Unified attendant Console servers to new Windows servers

Hi All

We have CUAC(Active and secondary) 14.0.1.20-27 on Windows 2012 server. We have been request to migrate the CUAC to new server with latest OS. Can I seek you support if someone has done this kind of activity so i can get some understanding on what needs to be done. I understand below needs to be taken care of when we setup the new servers.

1. Database backup from existing servers and restore on new servers.

2. Existing integrations like LDAP and CUCM. Also Contact DB on CUAC.

3. CTI extensions.

4. LDAP or local users created for these integration.

Apart from the above my main concern is how to restore the backup on new servers and test the functionality without affecting the existing setup and what kind of steps needs to follow up during the upgrade process.

Why don't you just do an in-place upgrade of Windows?

Thank you Winter. That's one of the questions we raised and the server team prefers to install the application on two new VMs. We are trying to push that idea.

Migrating a CUAC Server

I have done this before, and it is a simple process. Here are the steps:

1. Take a backup of the ATTCFG and ATTLOG files from the SQL client.
2. Disconnect the network card for the old Windows server until you are sure that the new one is fully operating.
3. You do not need to make any changes to CUCM. Use the same app user username and password that you used for the old server.
4. The new Windows server should have a new IP address and DNS record.
5. First, install the SQL app, and then start the CUAC app installation.
6. Restore the backup file from the SQL Management Client.
7. To register the new server code for licensing, visit http://www.cisco.com/go/ac: http://www.cisco.com/go/ac.

Thank You, Ibrahim. Will give it a try. If we go with a new IP and DNS record then we need to update the client application settings on their PC to connect to the new Application?

yes you are right, you need to update the cuac client for all agents

How did this go for you?  I tried doing an in place upgrade and it's been a disaster so far.  Think a new server build might be on the cards.  Did you end up changing the IP and name of the server, I'm tempted to try and keep it the same as there are rules everywhere pointing to the actual IP of the server
