SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

Hello!

If I look at my my user in the Admin Portal "admin.ciscospark.com" I can see that I have a SIP Address assigned.

For example: my.name@mycompany.call.ciscospark.com

From what I understand I should be able to place a SIP Call to that address from any SIP endpoint anywhere (given that it is connected to the internet and all), right?

If so, is there anything that I have to activate or configure?

Maybe someone can clarify this for me.

Thank you all!

Kind regards!

Jay

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

Jay,

Did you see this document about Spark SIP addresses in Cisco's Help Central:

https://help.webex.com/docs/DOC-7763

I hope this helps.

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

Hi,

If you jhave a M3 license, it works without any activation

It works with audio-video or audio only

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

Hey,

Do you have any internal video infrastructure that requires dial plans and Zones? If so you will need to make sure it can get through each hop make sure it goes out the DNS Zones to reach Spark. Other then that it should be auto.

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

Hi

This is not my context, I just want to be able to call a sip end point with the ip@

My Customer wants to verify the interop with polycom, lifesize and other products

Today they have Tandbergs products

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

You don't have that type of flexibility to do IP dialing like u can with UCM and VCS. Plus Spark supports only SIP calling so if you need interop with H323 as an example you end up doing M3 aka WebEx

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

Hi Srinivasan,

Don't worry about H323, the Customer considers it as a dinosaur but he does not understand why

- he can't call with an ip@

- he can't initiate a video conf (three or more) with a M3 license

- he can't modify the wallpaper (I have to check the admin page for this point)

but he likes the concept

Thanks

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

1. I didn't build the spark product :-) but if u are referring to ip address dialing well maybe because folks think it's a very legacy way (realizing many endpoints in the world still want that) and spark was designed to support SIP URI dialing

2. I think u meant to say he can't initiate a video meeting without a M3 license? Well M2 today is a Spark only meeting and while u can use proximity to pair with your endpoint and bring it into your meeting that's how it is today. Having said that u will note that Cisco just announced that very soon you will be able to have a room URI exposed and can allow endpoints to dial into the room so M2 will be fine too as long as u don't exceed the limits of a M2 which is 25 today(may increase in the future)

3. I haven't checked but the recent update to spark admin portal for advanced settings should allow it Advanced Settings for Room Devices | Cisco Cloud Collaboration Help Central

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

Hi,

With below statement, does it mean that M2 subscription can support calling from spark to spark client only? And can it support calling to spark client outside your domain or organization?.

Re: SIP Calls to Spark SIP address

First of all M2 plan is a work in progress and will evolve and change as we go along. Having said that today M2 is meant to be a spark only meeting and the users can be inside or outside but using spark clients or using proximity to pair with room systems

When the URI feature is exposed to your org when you click on the 9 dots next to the space aka the activity circle and then click on meetings then you will see a video URI also exposed

This will allow then standard based sip endpoints to also call into the space and not just spark clients

Does this make sense?
