Introduction:
Bulk Administration Tool (BAT) is a tool that can be used to make the editing/adding/removing of multiple phonesquicker and easier. Although its designed to make things easier for users to add/remove/update administrators
commonly run into issues. The following is a guide that will show you how to edit multiple phone descriptions
using this tool.
Steps:
1. Bulk Administration ---> Phones --> Export Phones --> All Details
2. Choose all phone types, give a file name, Run immediately
3. Monitor the Job and wait for it to show as completed in Job Scheduler
4. Bulk Administration --> Upload/Download files.... Download the file to your desktop
5. Import into excel using comma delimited
Office 2003:
Office 2007:6. Find the Description column
7. Saved the file as a CSV
8. Next we need to upload the CSV that we created:
Bulk Administration --> Upload/download files --> Add NewChoose file from your desktop
Target = Phones
Transaction Type = Insert Phones - All Detail
Save
Bulk Administration --> Job Scheduler --> Click on the Job Name
9. Bulk Administration --> Phones --> Insert Phones
10. Check Insert Phones All Detail --> select file --> Check Override the existing config --> Run Immediately --> Submit
11. Confirm that the Job ran with no errors
12. Check phone page to make sure change took effect.
Good tip, i was spinning my wheels trying to use the BAT update process to update my descriptions. Good to know it's actually under install phones to update.
thanks

Hello,
There seems to be a bug with the phone export when the export format contains the owner used ID field.
CSCtb95233
I have to populate that field to cope with the new licences format.
How may I proceed ?
Thanks,
Olivier

Anyone is getting an error that Line Text Label is not a valid field? Even though it is in exported file.
Line Text Label is not updating.
I have a question when we do a export all config from CUCM, we usually use excel to manipulate the csv file. My question is there are times where the user display name field includes a comma, but we know that comma is used as a delimiter, so excel does not know if it is part of the field or as delimiter and the record goes off by a few columns. Anyone knows any way around that? Googling says use double quotation but I do not see if being included in the export csv. Anyone any ideas or recommendation? Thanks.
