We are going to link to a SQL database running on Windows. Where is the best source of info on how and what type connector to install from UCCX 8.5.1 to Windows? When do we use OBDC or Jave Connector?

You cannot use ODBC, UCCX only supports JDBC connections. The setup required is described in the admin guide: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_0/configuration/guide/uccx801ag.pdf
See the Database Menu Option section.

Thanks but I am looking for a setup in the other direction, right? I need to set up data source on the UCCX to connect to the remote database. I think this link explains how to connect to the UCCX from a windows machine?

Hi,
can you please tell us more. Do you want to use an external database (you said Windows, so I assume it's going to be Microsoft SQL Server - what edition, what version) table to store some information that can be looked up by an UCCX script?
Or is it about reporting?
Thanks.
G.

We are running scripts that will route a caller to the proper skill in a CSQ based on a product match in an external database. Simple select statement should get the job done! We select based on the calling number, this is used to look up a record and find out what product this client has, then route the call to that skill set. The external database is SQL.
I have done this on other products, but this is the first time I have configured a connector on UCCX so I was looking for configuration examples. Ed pointed me to the manual, I was hoping for a video!
Thanks guys!
