Never seen before, did you look at system what is happening at that time ?
Event Viewer logs should give some info and what is written in PG logs during this time ?

I have never seen this before either. But you should also check the Router logs to see if it is also switching sides at midnight (the Active Synchronizer changing from A to B, say). Although a far more benign operation than the PG switching sides, if the problem is being caused by some reset on the private network it should also be happening on the Routers.

What kind of PG is it ?
Check if the connected peripheral is scheduled to bounce at the said time.
If Agent PG, check if you CTIManager is bouncing in the CUCM.
If CVP PG (VRU), check if your call server is bouncing.
