Hello all,
I have a CCX HA upgrade from 7 to 8.5, i have the backups and PUT backup also.
Those who had done the 8.5 upgrades can reply,
Do i need to shutdown the Secondary server while upgarding the CCX Primary. I have very minimum downtime.
Thanks

Hi Bobby,
Yes, you need to shut down the second node of UCCX 7.x, because as part of the UCCX 8.5 restore it will delete the CTI ports of the Second node. This might create conflict. Incase if the CAD\CSD instances are relaunched they will have two different versions and try to get upgraded to the newer version (incase if you have already run the CAD client configuration tool), so there are many of these challenges which will arise if you don't shutdown the older UCCX boxes.
You can refer the below upgrade guide for more information,
Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Since i was having minimal downtime, was thinking whether i could do the upgrade in offline network.
Keeping the CCX 7.1 Primary in the network.
I could prepare a new CUCM publisher in offline and connect the current CCX 7.1 Secondary and upgrade it as CCX 8.5 Primary.
If everything goes fine, we could make offline the current CCX 7.1 Primary and connect the new CCX 8.5 to the network.
and then continue with the CCX8.5 Secondary. Iam not sure whether its going to work?Any suggetions..
Tnx
Bobby

Hi Bobby,
As far as CUCM , DNS server, GW are reachable in offline network, I think you are good to go, but please make sure that these products are operated (offline) in such a way that they are not reachable to the the other online (production) solution.
Offline UCCX is going interact with the OFFline CUCM, so there won't be any conflict I believe.
Thanks,
Anand
