Unified CM telephony Subsystem is out of service in UCCX 2

Hi everyone,

We recently added a second node to our UCCX cluster (HA setup). The following steps have been completed:

  • JTAPI resynchronization was performed successfully.

  • Version and patch levels are consistent across both UCCX nodes and CUCM.

  • After adding the secondary node, we restarted both nodes in the correct order (Primary first, then Secondary).

  • All services are up and running, except on the Secondary node, where the Unified CM Telephony Subsystem remains Out of Service.

CTI Manager is running on the associated CUCM subscriber, and there are no apparent network or firewall issues.

Would appreciate any guidance on what else to check or if any additional steps are required post-secondary node addition to get the subsystem in service.

Thanks in advance!Screenshot 2025-04-18 124035.pngScreenshot 2025-04-18 124128.png

Did you add ports to the call control groups for the UCCX subscriber? That could be the cause. You have to do that manually after the subscriber is added for each call control group.

Dear Elliot,

when I have tried to update existing call control group in subscriber node it gave following error: failed to update the User on the Cisco Unified CM

It sounds like you need to check the CUCM integration user settings in UCCX and make sure those are in sync. You may have to stop/restart the CCX engine to make any changes effective.

I found the below error from ‘utils uccx healthcheck all‘ Command:

Checking Telephony Provider (JTAPI) Configuration.............................[31mNot OK

Reason: The configured Telephony Provider's User Prefix or Password is incorrect.

Should I change my Jtapi Application user password in CUCM PUB node save it and in both nodes of the UCCX in System>Cisco Unified CM Configuration change the Unified CM Telephony Subsystem - Unified CM Telephony Provider Configuration settings and provide new password and restart ccx engine in both nodes and axl web service, Cisco CTI manager in both CUCM nodes?

I am just guessing here because I have always had both the publisher and subscriber when a cluster was built initially. You may need to create the [JTAPI]_2 application user with the same password and group assignments as the [JTAPI]_1 account. The item in brackets is whatever prefix is assigned for the JTAPI accounts in the CUCM integration section.
