Specific question about serial numbers for hardware changes

Hi Cisco members,

this is general question regarding major and minor articles.

I know, all of them has to be part of the service contract from Cisco.

Otherwise, if the serial number is not attached to a contract no hardware change is allowed.

Am I right?

Furthermore:

Suppose a customer has a server system and a hard drive is broken. Is the TAC case opened on the serial number of the server chassis or on the serial number of the hard disk?

Or is this not important?

Thank you and kind regards

Nils Hanstein

Not sure how you entering the contract. when you upload the chassis, all the information will be upload in the chassis.

in this case Server chassis .

same like any other Switch modular, chasis is part of the contract.

Hi BB,

thanks so far for your answer.

But the Serial number of the hard disk drive has to be part of the Service contract?

If not, it will not be renewed.

Correct?
