Can one vc register two vsm extension keys?

I can use plugin manager to add two extension keys to vc for two vsm. However, when i use "connect" to connect the second vsm to vc, I got the following error:

Nexus1000v(config-svs-conn)# connect
ERROR:  [VMware vCenter Server 4.1.0 build-244350] Cannot create a vDS of extension key Cisco_Nexus_1000V_1391024160 that is different than that of the login user session Cisco_Nexus_1000V_919049492. The extension key of the vNetwork Distributed Switch (dvsExtensionKey) is not the same as the login session's extension key (sessionExtensionKey)..

These two vsms are on the different hosts connected to the same vc.

So, any idea?

Thanks,

Caixia

Hi Caixia,

You can have multiple extension keys registered on a VC. In your setup are you connecting both the VSM to the same data center or a different data center?

Thanks Abhinav,

I connect both vsm to the same data center. When I connect the second one, I get the above error.

As per the Install Guide you can only register one 1000v instance per VC Datacenter.

Robert

Thanks Robert, you are right:)
