Cisco Nexus 9300 License Requirements

Hi,

We are planning to purchase several Cisco Nexus - N9K-C93180YC-FX3 switches.

We will run just basic layer2 vlan and vPC, static routing. Apart from that we will not run anything.

Do we need to purchase "NXOS-ES-XF" - NX-OS Essentials license for Nexus 9300 (10G+) Platforms LAN, DCNM-LAN, Services, Streaming Telemetry, Tetration

What does NXOS-ES-XF - essential license gives us? 

We will just run basic layer2 in the switches. And only need access to Cisco's software download. Even the ports in the switch will run at 10gbps speed. Higher speed are reserved for future use.

Can someone explain - do we must purchase this NXOS-ES-XF???

Just as switch yes you an use,

Nexus 9000 and Nexus 3000 families are using honor based licensing model, meaning that you can use any feature, and the switch assumes you have the license purchased. 

If you plan to use the switch in production and you would need support from Cisco TAC, suggestion would be to buy the license.

If is for lab or testing or learning, then you can skip the license.
