Hi ,
I have downloaded Nexus1000v.4.0.4.SV1.3 and trying to install it.
Installation works fine till I reach the step to register 1000v plug-in on vcenter server.
"new plugin" is always disabled.
I tried command : show vmware vc extension-key on switch console.
It show extension-id :Cisco_Nexsus_1000v_1203930214
What may be the reason , I am not able to register the plugin ?
I cannot proceed futher.
I hope somebody will help me solving this issue.
Thanks
Vaishali

Hi Vaishali,
I am sure you are following the process in the URL below to register the extension key:
Can you post the screen shot showing the issue you are facing with the plugin registration?
And I hope the VC you are running is Enterprise plus?

I am using the same URL as you mentioned to install the software.
Let me check VC is enterprise plus or not.
I will get the snapshots and post them.
Thanks
Vaishali

Hi Vaishali,
Looking at the screen shot send by you, I see you are connecting directly to an ESX host using the VI client and not the VC.
You will only be able to install / import the plug-in once you are connected to the VC. The plug-ins are installed on a VC and not the ESX host.
Using the vi client, connect to the VC under which you have the data center to which this this N1K DVS would connect and register the plug-in.
Can you check that out?

Hi Vaishali,
Were you able to successfully install the VEM on the host? Are you using VUM?
thanks,

Is the VEM installed on the ESX host? If you SSH into the ESX host and run "vem status" and "vem version" what is the output?

Hi Vaishali,
The "Add Host to DVS" operation will fail if the VEM is not installed on the ESX host you are trying to add. To install the VEM, you can either do it manually (ssh or vCLI) or use VUM.
Please see the VEM install guide at the link below:
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
sachin

I am using cross_cisco-vem-v120-4.0.4.1.3.0.0-1.12.2.vib to install VEM.
But I am getting an error,
No VIB provides 'vmknexus1kvapi-v120-esx-4.0.4.1.3.0.0-1.12.2)
Am I using the correct vib ?
Thanks

Hi Vaishali,
Which ESX version is your host running? Could you provide the build number returned by the esx host from the "vmware -v" CLI?
thanks,
sachin

VMWare esx 4.0.0 build - 164009

Hi Vaishali,
That looks like it.
The vib that corresponds with build 164009 is cross_cisco-vem-v120-4.0.4.1.3.0.0-0.4.1.vib
You can download it from the VSM's homepage (choose the appropriate vib link corresponding to your ESX build version)
Hope this helps!
thanks,

ESX/ESXi 4.0.0 Build 164009 and 171294. ESX 4.0.0 Build 175625 VIB cross_cisco-vem-v120-4.0.4.1.3.0.0-0.4.2.vib
This is the only one I can see matching build 164009 but cross_cisco-vem-v120-4.0.4.1.3.0.0-0.4.2.vib is different than you suggested.
Will this one work ?
